To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. When iTunes was created a hundred years ago, I downloaded all of my CDs onto the software onto whatever laptop I had then. Over the years, as my devices grew old, I was able to transfer my music from CDs and purchased on iTunes seamlessly. When I recently upgraded to an iPhone X, I noticed that a good portion of my music didn't transfer. After speaking with Apple support, we figured out that all my music transferred except for my music I downloaded from CDs 20 years ago. I no longer have those hundreds of CDs, because I didn't think I'd ever lose the ability to use iTunes as I always have. I've heard of third-party apps that help to transfer those songs from one device to another. What do y'all recommend? Posted on Jun 20, PM.

Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It only takes a minute to sign up. I purchased a new iPhone a couple days ago. During the setup process, I restored from a backup of my old iPhone, from about two weeks ago the old iPhone was stolen, so the backup was a bit old. When I restored, I got a warning that 21 items could not be synced, and to check iTunes for more details. I noticed that the 21 songs are all songs I had previously purchased from the iTunes Music Store. They are not on the iPhone; in the iPhone music list view in iTunes , they all have a sync icon next to them:. I can't seem to get them transferred to my iPhone.
To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Old laptop went kaput, so I got a new one. When I plugged my iPhone in for the first time, I backed it up. I then had to erase and synch in order to link it with my new computer. After it was erased, I restored from back up, and now there is no music on the phone. Have I lost everything, or is it still possible to recover? My iTunes library has more music than can fit on my phone, so I would have to sort through everything all over again.
